Meet The AuthorE'drick Lamont BrownWe would like to thank the visionary & author of our programs, E'drick Brown (V-70186). E'drick is currently incarcerated and housed in the general population of California's maximum-security prison system and has been since the year of 2003. E'drick is serving a 39 year to life sentence for a crime he committed at the age of 18. No deaths involved and on his first offense. He is currently the 18th year of his conviction.

Inside Programs
Accepting Responsibility LetterThe Accepting Responsibility Letter is a 6-week victim impact class that encourages the student to write a letter to the victim expressing remorse for the crimes committed as well as sharing rehabilitation growth since incarceration.
Victims are encouraged to respond by letter to their offender. |
Self-Control
The Self-Control Program is a 12-week curriculum, which consists of 24 assignments that break down into 24 subtitles pertaining to Self-Control. The program challenges participants to complete two writing assignments (essays) per week. |
Causative Action
Real-life scenarios that compel one to think before they act and then evaluate their responses. The program works to enable participants to understand the outcome of their own choices. |
Outside Programs
Preventative Outreach ProgramPreventative Outreach is a community youth mentorship program that partners youth between the ages of 12-18 with mentors. The program aims to break trauma patterns and expose youth to healthy communication skills, nature as a healing mechanism, and family nourishment. Through this program, we build leadership skills with the ultimate goal of preventing future criminal contact.

Poetry SlamThe Poetry Slam Program originated in the High Desert State Prison (CA) in 2016. The Program ran for three straight years until 2018 allowing the men who are housed there to creatively express themselves through art. CDCR also ran an ad for three years supporting the Poetry Slam Program highlighting the warden's excitement about the success of the program!

BIO PROGRAMFTIO's first and most popular program has gained attention nationwide. The incarcerated population is generally left voiceless. The BIO Program has given incarcerated men and women the opportunity to tell their stories and become unmuted. These stories & letters are shared on this website and on all FTIO social media platforms. We have over 6000 followers and our following is growing rapidly. We encourage all to participate!
