Overview
Prison From-TheInside-Out, Inc. is a 501c3 California based non-profit that was founded by Porshe Taylor in 2019, the organization started with the intention of bridging the gap between people in prison and non impacted people in the community with hopes of educating both parties on what is generally hidden behind the private walls and barbed wire of prisons. We acknowledged the inequalities that exist in our current carceral system and we wanted to offer services that would help this community. We recognized that FTIO uniquely had insight which carried the gift of healing. The founder being a person of direct impact via her own husband decided to use her lived experience to help. FTIO established a brick by brick method to support all who are impacted by the carceral system in hopes of a future where equality, equity, mental wellness,healing, and forgiveness is a priority.

Since its formation, FTIO has reached people nationally and internationally and has reached communities impacted by the carceral system across the US and in Africa. Led by CEO and Founder, Porshe Taylor, FTIO’s goal is to reach the incarcerated in every state in the US and to serve as a model both nationally and internationally.

For Incarcerated people
In-custody;
FTIO believes that investing in the incarcerated community and providing resources to transform them from within is the key to lowering recidivism and optimizing their reentry success. Through a variety of program types, art, cognitive behavioral therapy based practices, victim impact, mentorship, and faith based programs.

Post Release;
Reentry housing, Employment preparation, support groups, Short term Fellow positions.
For Survivors
We host victim offender dialogues where victims/ survivors would like to share their testimony with the person who committed a crime against them or with other incarcerated people for impact purposes.
When we are not hosting dialogues, we are hosting victim impact programs in California state prisons to promote closure and healing for victims/ survivors.
For Impacted Youth
We host Perfection, a social justice pageant. We also partner with several organizations that solely focus on healing and coping with trauma

Mission

We're transforming the criminal justice system one life at a time through our "hope, build, reclaim" method. We break down systemic barriers by providing hope to incarcerated people, building their spirits through weekly visits, and offering reentry that guide them towards reclaiming a successful life upon release. We understand that true healing requires a community approach, so we extend our mission to victims and families affected by crime through our victim impact programs and dialogue services. We also support the silent victims – the children, mothers, and fathers left behind – with wrap-around services to rebuild their lives after the impacts of crime.

We envision creating a carceral system that promotes healing for all parties.

We envision a world that is inclusive to silent victims of crime and how they are affected.
We envision a safe space for youth to engage with others who are impacted by incarceration. A space where they can heal their associated trauma.
We envision wrap-around services that build long term trust and provide structured services to ensure that people do not recommit crimes once released.
We envision a world where we can stand proud beside people who reenter the community and never victimize anyone again.

Founder & Executive Director

Porshe Taylor

Porshe Taylor is the founder and visionary of Prison From-TheInside-Out, Inc. As a community leader and advocate, Porshe has partnered with various organizations, including S.T.O.P. and is a founding member of California Impacted Families Project: A Coalition of organizations and families directly impacted by the criminal justice system.
In 2019 Porshe went on a 2 year cleanse. She gave up all toxins and focused solely on her relationship with God. This allowed Porshe to receive a message from God while she slept and as a result of that night’s encounter, she gave birth to FTIO. Starting with just a website, Porshe followed God's Instruction and began building her organization.
Porshe is now the first African American woman to create a nonprofit organization that supplies correctional institutions with innovative and rehabilitative curriculums that have been approved and funded by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) partner Innovative Programming.
Porshe created history again as the Vice Chair of the first Police Oversight Commission in the city of Antioch.

In 2020, Porshe founded Mary Mac Transitional Homes, a sober living community serving San Joaquin County, California, where she operates as the Owner and Executive Director.

Also, a portfolio entrepreneur, Porshe’s business ventures include specialized consulting services for social justice organizations, commercial janitorial services, youth activities sobriety venues. In addition, Porshe has a ‘9 to 5’ in public administration, serving one of the most impoverished communities in California for over eight years.

As an African American woman, Porshe is most proud of having founded FTIO, becoming a recipient of multiple Innovative Programming grants funded by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Porshe is committed to reducing recidivism rates, and by providing correctional institutions with innovative and rehabilitative curriculums that impact the incarcerated, she is on the fast track to achieving her vision and fulfilling her God given purpose.
